Quote/0 USB EPD Buddy adds a minimal USB framebuffer receiver to Quote/0. A macOS, Linux, or Raspberry Pi host can send test patterns, text, images, and composed layouts over USB. An optional local HTTP middleware also lets scripts and agents update the screen over a local network.
Features
- USB image protocol: Sends a fixed 152 × 296, 1-bit framebuffer to the device
- Multiple input types: Supports test patterns, text, images, and JSON layouts containing text, images, and lines
- Orientation controls: Includes landscape, portrait, 180° rotation, and framebuffer inversion
- Local HTTP service: Exposes text, image, and composed-layout endpoints from a Raspberry Pi or desktop computer
- Diagnostics: Includes serial-port discovery, test screens, and white-screen troubleshooting
Good For
- Driving Quote/0 directly from a local agent, script, or Raspberry Pi
- Learning from a small USB image protocol and UC8251D refresh implementation
- Updating the display on a local network without a cloud service
Firmware warning
This project replaces the stock Quote/0 application with third-party firmware and currently targets devices using the UC8251D display controller. Back up the complete device Flash, confirm the hardware edition, and read the restore and white-screen troubleshooting guides before flashing. Third-party firmware may affect the device warranty.
