Just Read

Install Just Read on Read Pico through its website and import the font resources needed for the first startup.

Before you start

Prepare a sufficiently charged Read Pico, a computer running desktop Chrome or Edge, and a USB-C data cable. Close other webpages, flashing tools, or terminals using the device's serial port.

The first startup requires system fonts. Prepare a microSD card and insert it into the device. Read Pico supports cards up to 512 GB, formatted as FAT32.

Installation replaces the current system and may clear existing settings. Save any data you want to keep and read the installation notes on the website.

Open the website

Open the Just Read website in Chrome or Edge on your computer.

Connect your device

Connect Read Pico to your computer with the USB data cable. Click the selector under 设备 (Device). In the browser picker, select Read Pico's serial port and click Connect.

If you are unsure which entry to use, cancel the picker, unplug and reconnect the device, and look for the newly added port.

Select and flash the system

Select a Just Read version from 固件 (Firmware). The screenshot shows V0.0.1 Dongting; check the website for current versions. MindReset 原厂固件 (MindReset factory firmware) is a separate system option.

Click 开始刷入 (Start flashing) and follow the page's instructions. Keep USB connected and the page open. Do not unplug the cable, close the tab, or let your computer go to sleep.

Import resources for the first startup

After flashing finishes, click 资源导入 (Import resources). Keep the microSD card inserted and the device connected to your computer over USB. Click 通过 USB 导入资源 (Import resources via USB) and follow the instructions to import system fonts.

When the import finishes, follow the page's startup instructions to begin using Just Read.
