NFC Cards

Turn a small NFC card into a shortcut Rand/0 can remember.

NFC Cards

Give a small physical card a place in your Rand/0 routine. First read and save the card in Pocket NFC on Android, then write the saved card information to Rand/0.

What You Need

  • Rand/0
  • A compatible writable NFC card that you own
  • An Android phone or tablet with NFC

Write an NFC Card

  1. Download and install Pocket NFC for Android.
  2. Open Pocket NFC. Use the NFC area of your Android phone to read your NFC card, then follow the app's instructions to save the card information in the app.
  3. Take Rand/0 and place the NFC area of your Android phone directly against Rand/0's back—the battery side. Keep it in contact while the app writes the saved card information to Rand/0.
  4. Keep the card somewhere easy to find. When you want to change its content, use Pocket NFC to write it again.

Before You Install

  • Pocket NFC currently provides an Android installation package only;
  • If WeChat's in-app browser blocks the download, reopen this page in your system browser;
  • Before installing the APK, follow the system prompt to allow app installation from the current browser or file manager.

Use the Card with Rand/0

After the card is written, Rand/0 can use it without keeping Pocket NFC open. You only need the app again when you want to change the card.

Why iOS Is Not Supported

iOS does not fully open its NFC capabilities, so Pocket NFC cannot read and write physical NFC cards on iPhone.

You can borrow someone else's Android device to complete the NFC operation. After the content is written, Rand/0 can use the NFC feature independently. You only need Pocket NFC App again when you want to change the NFC content.

Supported Cards

Rand/0 includes passive NFC capability and can write a personal physical NFC card that you own into the device. The device does not provide financial IC properties or capabilities. This feature is only intended for cards you personally own. Please keep your device secure, do not write other people's information, and do not share security cards with others.

Currently supported card parameters:

ItemSpecification
NFC TypeCUID
ATQA0x0004
SAK0x08
RAM1kBytes (16 bytes Per Block)

NFC Compatibility Notice

NFC is a supplementary feature, not Rand/0's primary function. NFC cards come in many types and use many encryption methods, so compatibility depends on the card and your usage environment. We cannot accept returns when NFC is unavailable in your environment. Thank you for your understanding.
